Inside Voices: A Group Show by New England Artists Clark Derbes, Cody Justus and Timothy Kadish.
Vermont artist Clark Derbes has spent the last decade salvaging local hardwood before sculpting, hand sanding, and painting them in spatially deceptive grids. Boston artist, Cody Justus finds inspiration in the stuff around us that is often over-looked. His latest work pays homage to the designs of textile designer Marta Mass Fjetterstom, and translates the language of weaving into paint. Providence artist, Timothy Kaddish wields color and form to compose and magnify the building blocks in our everyday “space of becoming”.
Each of these formal approaches gives way to new explorations, blurring the distinction between surface and object, between fine art and craft, to create work where boundaries are crossed, patterns are reconfigured, and color is so vibrant and lush it belongs in a candy shop.
Inside Voices runs from December 4th through January 6th at LaMontagne Gallery in collaboration with Cube Art Boston, a Boston-based venture that connects local artists with art enthusiasts and other curious people that want to discover, collect and have some fun.
